It has been a while...

Now that school is almost complete I hope to update the blog regularly. Maddy is 1 yr and 3 wks! She has her two bottom teeth and her two top teeth just poked through. She is a wild child and keeps up plenty busy. She is trying to crawl, she pulls herself with her elbows. She can stand as long as she has something to hold on to... She has long legs, and her daddy says her only tooshy is her diaper. She does this thing we call "The Madelynn" She wiggles her whole body, it is hillarious. She and Jason take turns doing it back and forth.

She got to sit in a "kiddie" pool for the first time yesterday. She hated it. She did not want to even look at the pool. However, she loves swimming in the bath tub. She is a goose!

In her four weeks of life, Madelynn is breathing on her own, eating all of bottles and now we are waiting for her body to be able to regulate it's temperature. After that she can come home!!! She weighs 4 lbs 8 oz and is 17 3/4 inches long. She doesn't cry very ofter, really only when she is hungry. All of the nurses are so impressed with how well she is doing at such a young age and weight.

Madelynn's Arrival

Madelynn made her debut Saturday May 16th at 2:59 pm 10 weeks early. She weighed 3 lbs 4 oz. She was 16 and 1/4 inches long.
Story leading up to her arrival...
Wednesday I took my last two finals early so I could have a four day break before beginning 6 weeks of summer school. Late Wednesday afternoon I noticed Madelynn was not moving around like she usually does. I thought maybe she was just tired from finals with me. Thursday morning I was beginning to get worried but Jason had taked the day off to spend time with me before summer classes started. We had lunch at Chili's and spent the rest of the day at the zoo before we went to Dr. Shanbour's office for the checkup.
Dr. Shanbour told us to to go home and eat dinner and if she hasn't moved 10 times in 2 hours to go back to the hospital to get monitored. After dinner we took a nap, well Jason slept, I couldn't because I was waiting on Madelynn to move. I woke Jason up at 9 to head to the hospital. We were expecting to be back home in a couple of hours. We half jokingly talked about how this could be our trip to the hospital.
We had to stay Thursday night expecting to go home Friday morning. Friday night we expected to home Saturday morning so I could go register for the baby showers. Saturday they did a contraction stress test to see if her heart could handle contractions. She failed the test. The nurse told us I would go in for the c-section in about an hour. Jason was working that day so that would give him plenty of time to get there and ready...so we thought...3 minutes later the nurse came in and said we were going in 15 minutes! Jason walked in, put on his surgery clothes and away we went.

OKC Memorial Walk

Grandma Stafford and I got up early to do the Memorial Walk. There were 19,000 people overall participating (marathon, half marathon, relay, and walk)

Snow Cones!!!

We got our first snow cones! I love snow cones, Jason was a little less enthusiastic about the event, but enthusiastic he was!
